coleman boulevard redevelopment plan

about the project

The coleman boulevard redevelopment plan is a suburban revitalization effort that spans a 3 1/2 mile commercial corridor in Mount Pleasant, SC.

The design effort consisted of a week long charrette with a series of public input sessions and design efforts.  The information created and gathered was then refined into a set of final recommendations.

The final recommendations were adopted into an overlay district ordinance that creates  guidelines that will allow Coleman Boulevard to gradually transform into a much needed mixed-use main street for the Town.

The proposed changes to Coleman Boulevard include a wide pedestrian realm, bike lanes, street trees, on-street parking, parking requirement reductions, increased density, and several recommended park sites.

The Coleman Blvd. plan won a 2009 SCASLA merit award!!
