sustainable pocket park

about the project

The Sustainable Pocket Park will be the first park in a series of future pocket parks along Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant.

The design features a large gathering room, two semi-private rooms with swings and arbors, an art kiosk (SMHa), a history timeline, and two art installations.

The site consists of highly sustainable materials including reclaimed concrete, reclaimed brick, recycled glass, pervious plantation mix, and benches with recycled plastic components.

Plantings are all native and fed by a drip irrigation system that can be cut off once plants are established.

The Sustainable Pocket Park won a merit award at the tri-state 2010 ASLA meeting!
